One week in and I'm already behind. I had a week to write this list and I thought it would be easier, so I put it off until the last day. But the more I thought about it, the harder it became. Favorite characters are different from favorite books, movies, TV shows, etc. And favorite characters are also different from beloved characters. I could write a list that would cover pages with the names of beloved characters of mine. But favorite characters? FAVORITE characters. It really made me ponder. You get a unique perspective on someone from their favorite characters; the ones which they appreciate the most, and perhaps relate best with. I'm really curious to see others' responses to this one. • Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables • Josephine "Jo" March from Little Women • Shawn and Gus from Psych • Richard Castle from Castle • Pascal from Tangled • Riley Poole from National Treasure • Sherlock Holmes and John Watson as portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman on Sherlock • Shaggy and Scooby Doo • Jean-Bob from The Swan Princess • Bartok from Anastasia • Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Severus Snape, Fred and George Weasley, Draco Malfoy, and Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter • Rory and Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls • Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China • Vin from the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson • Anna and Sven from Frozen • Peregrin "Pippin" Took and Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck from Lord of the Rings • Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee also from Lord of the Rings • Wooton Bassett, Alex Jefferson, Cal Jordan, John Whittaker, Connie Kendall, Eugene Meltsner, Jason Whittaker, Jack Allen, and Jimmy Barclay from Adventures in Odyssey • Haley Graham from Stick It • Al Giordino from Sahara • Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds, Hoban "Wash" Washburne, Jayne Cobb, Kaylee Frye, and Zoe Washburne from Firely (and Serenity) • Walter, Garth, and Hub from Secondhand Lions • Cosmo Brown from Singing in the Rain • Phil Davis from White Christmas • Shaun the Sheep from Shaun the Sheep (with an appearance in Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave) • Wallace and Gromit from... Wallace and Gromit • Fred Randall from Rocketman • Batman • Dick Grayson • Captain America • Iron Man • Thor • Spiderman If you really want it boiled down, Anne Shirley, Jo March, Shawn and Gus, Shaggy and Scooby, Batman, and the characters from Lord of the Rings are probably my all-time favorites.

Last week I decided that I'm going to do the 52 Lists Project by Moorea Seal. This project was designed as a way to help nurture self-expression and self-development, with one list prompt for each week of the year. Anyone who really knows me knows that I love lists, so when I discovered this on pinterest I was all over it. I wasn't originally going to post my lists online, but after giving it some thought I figured why not? I love not only making lists, but reading other people's lists as well. I like finding out little things about people that don't come up in daily conversation. So if you're like me, then you'll enjoy this. And if you enjoy it, then write your own lists and share them in the comments below! I would love to read other people's answers to these list prompts. And what better way to cultivate a little community? :) I'm using my own journal instead of the official one, but if you're interested in the 52 Lists Project Journal by Moorea Seal, just click the link :) So here we are. List your goals and and dreams for this year. • Pay off a big chunk of hubby's debt
• Finish organizing my craft room • Travel (at least a little) • Take a step in the direction of my calling • Figure out what my calling/purpose is • Learn how to love my husband more fully • Grow in hospitality • Be more fruitful in my scrapbooking • Keep up with this 52 list project • Grow in grace • Grow in gratitude • Try more food • DRINK MORE WATER • Get in shape • Build my Green Label Art collection • Persevere through anxiety • Dance more • Learn how to embroider • Write more • Finish reading the 2nd Harry Potter book • Finish the Mistborn trilogy with the hubby • Read a non-fiction book (or listen to one) • Listen to more audiobooks • Take better care of myself • Walk more fully and confidently in the woman that God created me to be Usually I'm not much for selfies. Unless it's humorous, there's a story to tell, or there's a memory with a friend to be made, I try to avoid them. But I have a new purpose for one today.
I'm feeling good about myself. Not how I look (although it is a good day for that too), but how I feel. I'm having one of those "open eyes" days. The days where your eyes are finally open to see the big picture around you. Last night I asked my husband if I should have more drive in life; more purpose. I keep seeing these women who have careers and aspirations, or have passions with a plan. I have my passions, and I have my strengths, but I always seem to find myself feeling stuck. I have no idea where I'm going. I'm at a loss as to what I'm supposed to use these gifts and passions for. I have all sorts of ideas at times, but I can never seem to retain the feeling or belief that I could actually achieve them. My husband has been nothing but supportive and encouraging, but this is not a matter of simple support. This is intentional stifling from the enemy. I've finally realized that. So...now what? A selfie? I realize that's not going to do much. But it's a reminder to me that I'm able. I'm capable. Why is that? Because for years I looked in the mirror and saw nothing but fear, disapproval, and a figurative veil over my face. But more and more lately when I look in the mirror I see a deep rooted beauty that has nothing to do with my hair. I don't see a scared little girl trying to hide. I see a young woman with fire and strength. Anxiety, insecurities, lies, and hurt still exist, but I'm deciding not to be defined inwardly by them anymore. Posting a photo of what I see is like slapping the enemy in the face and declaring "no". It may sound kinda silly, but I don't really care. I'm tired of feeling unable. And more so, I'm tired of not doing anything about it. So here's my public declaration of putting an end to it. I'll probably wake up tomorrow less motivated and less certain than I am now, but I won't let the fear of that keep me from enjoying this sweet freedom and determination right now. I can do things. I can strive. And though I may fail, I can also succeed. This post is not one of boasting - I wish I could convey how humbling it is to write it. It's a post publicly showing the enemy that I'm not going to take his crap laying down anymore. I'm excited to see where this will go. I am able. Okay, so I've always been pretty partial to 1993 because I'm a product of it. But in reality, despite my bias opinion, 1993 was a pretty dang sweet year that gave us many epic things. So, in honor of my 23rd birthday, I've decided to compile a list of 23 things that will prove to you how awesome my birth year is. 1. It's the year that Beanie Babies were first introduced. 2. The first episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy was aired. 3. Jelly "jellies" shoes were still a thing (and the epitome of fashion for me in future years). 4. The film Jurassic Park was born. The list can really just stop here. 5. Batman: The Animated Series was airing its first and second season. 6. Certain Dino Roars were released (seriously guys, these things were the bomb.com). 7. Zayn Malik of One Direction was born this year. 8. So was Liam Payne. 9. And Niall Horan. 10. Fisher Price Loving Family Dollhouse was brand new (our cats loved this thing). 11. Whoomp! There It Is by Tag Team was released and on the top charts. 12. Boy Meets World was first aired. 13. So was Walker, Texas Ranger. 14. And Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman 15. Adventures in Odyssey radio drama cassette albums 15, 16, and 17 were aired and released (all wonderful albums). 16. The fifth Adventures in Odyssey film "Star Quest" came out. Still evokes childhood memories. 17. The new Little Tikes multi-level playground was introduced (we never had this one, but I kind of want it now...). 18. KidVision (a home video distributor of children's programming) was created. This is the company that would give us The Magic School Bus one year later. 19. I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers also released this year. 20. Mrs. Doubtfire came out. 21. So did Free Willy. 22. And Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey 23. And The Sandlot. Basically, it was just a great year for movies.
And there you have it. 1993 was the bomb. |
